Child Safety Standards
College Sauce is built for students to find their people on campus. Protecting minors from sexual abuse and exploitation is a condition of that, not a feature of it. This page sets out our standards against child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), how anyone can report a concern, and what we do when we receive one.
If a child is in danger
Contact your local emergency services first. Reporting to us is not a substitute for contacting law enforcement. In the United States you can also report directly to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.
Report to NCMECReport a concern to us
Any message, person, club or event can be reported from inside the app. For anything involving the sexual abuse or exploitation of a minor, email us directly so it reaches a person immediately. You do not need an account, and you can report anonymously.
Email our safety contactThese standards apply to everyone who uses College Sauce and to every part of the service — profiles, direct messages, group and class chats, clubs, events, and any media shared through them.
Our Prohibition on Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation
We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation. The following are strictly prohibited on College Sauce, and we act on them whether or not the conduct also breaks the law in a particular place:
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM), in any form — creating, uploading, sharing, requesting, linking to, or soliciting it.
- Sexualising a minor in any content, including text, images, video, drawings, or computer-generated material.
- Grooming — building a relationship with a minor to facilitate sexual contact, exploitation, or the production of sexual content.
- Sextortion — threatening to expose intimate content in order to coerce a person into producing more of it, into sexual activity, or into payment.
- Trafficking a minor, or advertising, promoting, or facilitating the sexual exploitation of a minor.
- Any attempt by an adult to arrange sexual contact with a minor.
- Sharing or promoting off-platform material or services that do any of the above.
Violating these standards results in immediate removal of the content, permanent termination of the account, and — where the conduct involves apparent child sexual abuse material — a report to the relevant authorities as described below.
Who College Sauce Is For
College Sauce is intended for enrolled college and university students who are 18 years of age or older. Creating an account requires an email address at a participating school's verified domain. Accounts we identify as belonging to a person under 18 are removed.
Email-domain verification is not a substitute for age verification, and we do not present it as one. It narrows who can join; it does not prove anyone's age. That is one reason reporting and review matter as much as they do.
How to Report a Child Safety Concern
If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. Reporting to us is not a substitute for contacting law enforcement.
Within the app, any message, person, club, or event can be reported directly from the item itself — open it, choose Report, and select a reason. Reports go to our review queue with a snapshot of the reported content so a reviewer has the context.
For anything involving the sexual abuse or exploitation of a minor, we ask that you also email us directly so it reaches a person immediately rather than waiting in the general queue:
- Child safety point of contact: sarah@collegesauce.com
Please include where on College Sauce you saw the content, the account involved, and anything that helps us locate it. You do not need an account to report a concern to us by email, and you can report anonymously.
You can also report directly to the authorities. In the United States, reports can be made to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) at report.cybertip.org or 1-800-843-5678. Outside the United States, INHOPE lists national reporting hotlines.
How We Respond
Reports of suspected child sexual abuse or exploitation are treated as our highest priority and are reviewed ahead of all other reports. We commit to reviewing every report within 24 hours of receiving it.
When a report is substantiated, we:
- Remove the offending content from the service.
- Permanently terminate the account responsible, and any other accounts we identify as belonging to the same person.
- Preserve the content and associated account records as required for reporting to the authorities, rather than deleting them outright.
- Report apparent child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, and cooperate with law enforcement requests relating to that report.
We do not require a reporter to be the victim, and we do not notify the reported account of who reported it.
Preventative Measures
Alongside reporting and review, College Sauce applies measures intended to reduce harm before it reaches anyone:
- A content filter screens text — including profile names, bios, messages, club details, and event listings — before it is published, and blocks terms associated with the sexualisation of minors.
- Any user can block another, which prevents further contact in either direction.
- Messages from people you are not connected to arrive in a separate requests tray rather than your inbox, so unsolicited contact does not reach you directly.
- Accounts are limited to verified school email domains, which materially narrows who can create one.
We treat these as a floor, not a ceiling, and expect to strengthen them as the service grows.
Compliance With Child Safety Laws
College Sauce complies with applicable child safety laws in the jurisdictions where it operates. As a US-based provider, this includes our obligations to report apparent child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, and to preserve related material as the law requires.
We cooperate with valid legal requests from law enforcement relating to child safety investigations.
